Dear GPA Family, We are entering a very important time of the school year—ACAP Testing Week! Our students have been working hard, and now it’s time for them to show what they know. Below is the testing schedule: ACAP Testing Schedule: Monday, April 14th – Science (Grades 6 & 8) 7th grade students will NOT test on the Science portion. Tuesday, April 15th – Math (Grades 6, 7, & 8) Wednesday, April 16th – ELA (Grades 6, 7, & 8) We ask for your full support in helping your child perform their best. Here are some important reminders: Students should arrive by 7:45 a.m. to ensure they are settled and ready to begin testing on time. Be on time. Once testing begins, students will not be allowed to enter the testing area. Get a good night’s rest. A well-rested mind is better focused and ready to perform. Eat a healthy breakfast. A balanced meal can boost energy and concentration. Encourage your child to try their best. A positive mindset goes a long way! This test plays a vital role in helping us understand how well students are learning and where we can grow as a school. Your partnership is key in ensuring every student succeeds. Let’s work together to make this a successful testing week. With gratitude, George P. Austin Junior High School

GPA Community, We Need You A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already sent in letters and cards filled with encouraging words for our students as they prepare to take the ACAP tests next week. Your support means the world to us! I know not everyone follows our page, so please help spread the word! If you’d like to send a message of encouragement, you can email Principal Starks at tstarks@lindencity.org or drop it off at the school. Every word of support helps lift our students up! State testing begins Monday, April 14th, and we’re inviting our GPA family, stakeholders, local businesses, and alumni to join us that morning at 7:45 a.m. As Principal Starks leads our usual Monday Morning Kickoff with the students, we'd love to have YOU lining the hallways to cheer them on as they head to their classrooms. Let’s send them off with the energy and confidence they need to do their very best! Let’s show our students just how much we believe in them! #GPACommunity #ACAPStrong #WeBelieveInYou #CheerThemOn

To culminate Black History Month, our GPA students took a meaningful journey to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and Kelly Ingram Park on February 28th. Walking through history, they experienced powerful exhibits that told the story of the Civil Rights Movement—stories of courage, resilience, and the fight for justice. At Kelly Ingram Park, they stood where young activists once marched and reflected on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we have today. It was more than a field trip; it was a lesson in history, leadership, and the responsibility we all have to continue pushing for equality. Proud of our students for embracing this experience with open hearts and open minds! #GPAOnTheMove #BlackHistoryMonth #LivingHistory #BirminghamCivilRights
